My favourite film is The Conjuring, this is because it was a
very good horror film and in truth I couldn’t sleep for two days because of it.
The film was one of my first horror films I had watched and I personally really
liked the film. It had equally suspenseful parts and scary parts. The most scariest bit of the film in my opinion (because of
it I wouldn’t sleep for two days) was the bit where you saw the woman on top of
the wardrobe, as shown below.
The
film creates a sense of suspense from the very start as the people are talking
about Annabelle the possessed doll. It then goes into the title ‘The Conjuring’
in bold big letters with a very loud suspense tune. It was a tune/sound that
would happen with a scary bit in the film. I think the key aspects of the film
was even though the woman named Carolyn, who was the children’s mother was
talking to Lorraine about a photo she found on the fireplace. The picture
consisted of the family at the beach with big smiles and she said that she
would never forget the day they all had when they were all laughing and smiling
together. I think that this is an important aspect because it’s the memory that
brings her back to reality when she gets possessed. Another key aspect of the
film is when Carolyn is laying down sleeping and the ghost hovered over her and
spat blood in her mouth. The ghost also had been bruising her which had been
said to be low iron deficiency; this was not the case because later on in the
film she gets low on energy and the spirit possesses her. This was explained by
Lorraine as she said she was ‘grooming’ the mum so she can take over her body
in order to kill the child. Another key aspect was, the woman who lived in the
house called Bathsheba, was into the dark arts and stuff (Satanic things). She
got married when she had her first baby, she sacrificed it - only a week old
baby – to the devil and then walked out to the tree out near the lake and
cursed all who tried to take her land and hung herself.
This film is one of my favourite because there are jump
scares, suspenseful moments and other moments that are quite nice, like family
games and family times. All these make up a brilliant film that the Conjuring
is. I enjoyed how they did the make-up on the woman who played Carolyn when she
was possessed and how they did special effects such as the ghosts. One of my
favourite scenes is when Lorraine is unpegging the blankets and the sheet blows
out of her hand and gets stuck on something, however the shape of it is a like
a human’s figure.
It then blows up to Carolyn’s bedroom and blows off and you
see the ghost in the window looking at Lorraine and walks out of the window view.
